For those of you who don't know me, my name is Paula Wood. I am a 53 year old white female who suffered a stroke during brain surgery at an early age in life. It left me partially paralyzed on the left side of my body. I don't have much control over my extremities. I use a walker for getting about places. I have a wonderful family. They have been very supportive of me. My mother spent 9 weeks in Nashville at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She only left my side occasionally to get something to eat. Dianne worked late on Fridays and would drive up for the weekend to try and give my mother some relief. Kim took me to the hospital for what was to be a simple brain surgery and I was suppose to go home in two days. Things did not work out the way the doctor thought and it was 9 weeks later when Kim brought me home on December 14, 2005. My mother is still living, afflicted with some memory problems. We have met a half-brother, Bill, that has brought joy to all of us after 57 years of not knowing him. So I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters and a daughter, son-in-law and 2 "GRAND"children. God is good, all the time. He never leaves or forsakes us.
